This CPD is for teachers and support staff involved in developing and delivering the CBE Diploma, and for those teaching Geography, Citizenship, Careers, Work-Related Learning/Enterprise or any course with a planning or spatial element. It has been developed and is being delivered by Planning Aid for London in conjunction with Newham Education Business Partnership and the University of Westminster.
This course will:
• Support teachers delivering the CBE Diploma by offering high-quality, credible,
industry-related learning, linked to real-life issues affecting the areas where your
students learn or live.
• Raise the profile of the Planning and Design professions among Careers
Advisors and Enterprise Education teachers.
• Enable teachers to support active citizenship among their students and promote
the understanding of the planning and regeneration process that can affect the
society they live in.
• Promote the education resources and services of Planning Aid for London to
schools.
• Help teachers to make effective connections between planning, regeneration,
employment and development issues and opportunities arising from the legacy of
the Olympics in 2012.
• Raise awareness of undergraduate courses in Property, Planning and
Construction at the University of Westminster, and provide opportunities for
schools to build links with the University.
All participants will receive a CD pack containing a
range of materials related to the issues and themes in the course; copies of
development plan maps, case studies for use in the classroom, information about
courses and careers in the planning, design and construction sector, a list of contacts
and resources, and a bag of assorted freebies from the built environment sector.
